The pink starfish

There was once a pink starfish. It was small and wise. It liked loitering around, daydreaming and doing nothing. The catfish told it, “Why do you waste your time like this? Why don’t you do any useful work?” The starfish was startled by what the catfish said. She decided to ask the catfish what she thought useful work was. The catfish said, “You can weed the seabed,” said the catfish. “Weed the seabed?” asked the starfish “Yes, you can weed the seabed,” said the catfish patiently. “Why?” asked the starfish. “What do you mean why,” said the catfish not so patient now. “You feel that weeding the seabed is more useful than daydreaming. But can you be really sure? If nature had intended for the seabed to be weeded she would not have created weeds. Weeds too have their place in sea ecology.” The starfish paused and the catfish realised she had nothing to say.
